Drugs are not allowed in any national sport. However, that does not stop them from being used. There are many cases of this all over the United States. Athletes that use performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids androstenedione, human growth hormone, erythropoietin, diuretics, creatine, and stimulants have a great advantage over what a person who does not use drugs is capable of. Besides the side effects and obvious health risks that come with taking performance enhancing drugs, this disadvantage is why I personally want drugs.
I have never personally taken any performance enhancing drugs, but if we can take a minute and delve into inequality issues, I believe that the person who works the hardest should be the person who wins the competition. As a long distance runner who spends a lot of time running in the off-season, I get frustrated being passed by people who did not take the time to train. If I were able to take performance enhancing drugs the playing field would be more equal and I would be able to see more significant improvement in addition to the work I put in off-season.
I guess what I am trying to say is that in reality I don't want to do drugs, but I want competition to be more fair. I also feel that nothing is worse than someone who brags about being able to succeed in a sport without having to work hard at it. It bothers me to watch people not reach their potential.
