Why is it that animals that are considered pets, like dogs and cats, make people want to cry when they see them being abused. But animals like pigs and cows don't share the same light? I for one, have never seen a commercial showing sad looking cows with flashing words across the screen saying “Help Me! Donate Now!” Thanks to a couple of horrifying videos on the finning of sharks I don't understand how everyone is rushing to save a kitten from a tree and not a shark from brutal, slow murder. Ignorance is just another piece adding to the problem. People go for what is convenient and will make them the most money and can't picture these animals as something more than personal profit.
So why is it then, in Planet of the Apes, that makes watching people being treated this way so disturbing. Is it the fact that we share a connection and even though the people have less intelligence we still feel a sense of similarity? Or is it that we finally get a good look of what we are truly doing. Piling up creatures and hearing the shocking number of the current death toll no matter what level of intelligence they have makes me sick to my stomach.
The cruel treatment of animals is prevalent in today's life, but not enough is being done. The movie Planet of the Apes is older than I am, but the ideas and problems are still around. It is necessary to do something about this shocking animal cruelty, but the people who make ridiculous amounts of money off of these animals don't care about the cruelty when profit is at hand.
